2004-05 Results Round Up
Blackpool Winter Gardens: 27th/28th November 04
Northern Classic
This was the first competition of the year for the team, and for many, their first experience of competitive cheerleading! Allstars did extremely well - achieving a well-deserved second place, behind the Blackpool Scorpions. Spirit dazzled everyone with their Joseph megamix and took first place in Senior Dance. It was also the first competition where we showcased more of our team's talent as both Marie and Gary performed individually for the first time!
Manchester Velodrome: 5th/6th March 05
UKCA Nationals
We did ourselves proud at this competition, bringing home lots of trophies including one for outstanding contribution to cheerleading!
In University Cheer, Allstars took 1st place with Celtic Elites placing a fantastic 2nd place. Celtic Allstars competed again, taking 2nd place in the Senior Co-ed cheer section and it was a good weekend for the Shauna, Ali, Tim, Gary and Simon in the Group Stunt team who placed 3rd in Senior Co-ed.
The judges obviously liked the cheese of our Village People megamix, with Celtic Disco coming 1st in Senior Community Pom Dance. Spirit were placed 3rd in Senior Cheer Dance and Fever did incredibly well, with a placing 6th in Senior Pom Dance with only 6 points between 1st place and us!
Well done also to Marie and Gary who took 5th and 10th place in Senior Individuals, a very tough section with some exceptional cheerleaders.
All in all a very successful weekend!
Leeds Girls School: 9th/10th/12th March
Leeds University Dance Show
The dance show was a chance for us to showcase our skills in front of all of the other dance societies, plus family and friends - showing them what cheerleading is all about! Celtic Disco's Village People megamix went down a storm with the crowd, as I'm sure, Tim's infamous cheer-face also did! I think we also wowed everyone with the Allstars routine, even though Jen did manage to break her arm! It was also an opportunity for us to see some of the members of the team performing with the other dance societies that they belong to. Well done to everyone that took part!
Reading: 3rd April
BCA University Competition
Once again, a very successful competition. The BCA university competition is a great opportunity for us to mix with the other university teams and see them compete. Group Stunt performed a flawless routine with their new star flyer Rachel and achieved a well-deserved 1st placing. Allstars competed in the Open section against Essex Flames and took 1st place! Both dance teams also did well, with Spirit coming top in Senior Dance Small and Fever coming 2nd. Well done everyone!
Whitley Bay: 8th May
Dance Gala
This was a brilliant opportunity for us to fully enjoy performing the extra long five minute Village People megamix (!!!) without the stress of competing. There were some amazing dance schools there, but I think we did ourselves proud and astounded everyone with a few stunts! It was a good performance although I'm not sure the audience were quite expecting such a cheese-fest!
Nottingham Arena: 29th-31st July
BCA Nationals
Well done to everyone who competed at this year's Nationals, especially as we hadn't practiced for 2 months! We worked hard and even though we were all suffering from aching muscles we still performed incredibly well and definitely deserved all the trophies we gained! We beat off some tough competition in Co-ed Cheer as well as senior dance and took 1st place in both sections. Celtic Elite won the all-girl cheer section and Spirit dazzled everyone once again - their routine come first, and they were even invited to the CoA Nationals in America. Well done to Celtic Fever who came 3rd behind Goldstar and Pink Ladies, two incredible teams. Being Grand Champions of University Cheer and Senior Dance isn't a bad way to end the 2004/05 season! We can only look forward to 2005/06 and the surprises it is going to bring!
